About Us

VBact develops and designs revolutionary cost-effective solutions for real-time, label-free detection of bacteria and other microorganisms. We are applying the power of optics and image processing to replace common bio-chemistry methods.

The company has developed a patented novel concept for monitoring liquids, based on novel optical and imaging techniques coupled with advance image processing and machine understanding capabilities.

VBact offers real-time microbiology solutions for the water industry, water based process industries, such as: food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, the dairy sector and for additional applications.

Team

VBact has assembled highly experienced team with broad expertise in machine vision, imaging, algorithms, microbiology, life science technologies and international management. The team has a proven track record of developing innovative technologies and transforming new concepts into marketable products.

VBact Management
Oz Bornstein, Co-Founder and CEO – brings broad entrepreneurship, managerial, international BD & marketing and operational experience. He focuses on integration of imaging technologies with life sciences applications. He led the establishment of medical imaging division at Orbotech, was the General Manager Pre-clinical at Aspect – a novel developer of MRI systems and co-founded two biotechnology companies. Oz received B.A. and M.A. in economics from Bar-Ilan, Israel.

Dan Zemer, Co-Founder and CTO - an experienced R&D Executive in developing multi-discipline, complex systems including integration of HW, SW, automation and optics. He specializes in problem solving and new product development. Dan is a Systematic Inventive Thinking (SIT) international facilitator and inventor of many sophisticated new technologies. Dan was a senior R&D Executive at Orbotech, co-founded several technological ventures and managed large scale R&D projects at IAI. He received BSEE in Control Engineering from the Technion, Israel.

Boaz Freidin, VP Western Europe - brings 20 years experience in Industrial automation ‎with specialties in high precision motion solutions for machine builders, process control, robotic ‎etc, in several roles as product manager, senior account manager and business development ‎under companies like Kollmorgen, Danaher and Servotronix.‎
Boaz received B.Sc. in Control Engineering from FHM, Germany, and he is located in Munich. ‎

Scientific Advisors
Dr. Ruth Zelikson, Doctor Emeritus - Dr. Zelikson is a Senior Lecture at the Department of Biology and Environment, University of Haifa at Oranim. Her main research focus was yeast cells genetic and physiology. She also has research interest in various fields in food microbiology, biochemistry and in applied environmental and water microbiology. Dr. Zelikson was a researcher at CNRS in Gif-Sur-Yvette and in Univesite de Paris-Sud, Centre d'Orsay, both in France. She headed the food biochemistry and microbiology unit at the Technion, Israel and received her Ph.D. in Biology, from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Dr. Moshe Bar-Joseph - is a retired plant pathologist specializing in molecular aspects of a range of pathogens affecting citrus and subtropical fruit trees. During his long career as a senior research scientist, he founded and headed the S. Tolkowsky laboratory of citrus diseases and held an adjunct Professor position of Plant Virology at Ben-Gurion University, Beer-Sheba.
